Slk Club Italia

After a few years driving TVRs I recently purchased another SLK.

Having links with Italy I've been in touch with the SLK Club Italia and they have proposed setting up a U.K. section. They have ideas about exchanging information, organising international meets and linking with a few keen dealerships in the U.K.

Can anybody tell me if there is already some sort of SLK club in the U.K. and, if not, would there be many people interested in forming one?

The car's great by the way.... 90 miles, everything works and nothing's fallen off! (it's a TVR thing) One thing though, is it my imagination or is the boot a lot smaller than the previous version?

I'm not aware of any but this is agreat forum and one of the best around. We all drive just about every MB model/range that there is oit there amongst ourselves.

Perhaps if you were to speak to the Mods then you could possibly merge with MBclub and attend our GTGs or something (but not just restrcited to SLKs).

Welcome DRICCI, I live just west of you not far from the airport, also have a 350 and 230k slks. The answer to your questions is dont know I know some owners meet now and then usually via these type of forums.

We would welcome imput from Italy, and I am sure we will help all we can to assist. But as already said we do not specialise in any particular Mercedes model. There are many SLK owners here old and new models.

I too have a SLK Dricci. I don't know of a SLK Car Club in the UK but there is a SLK Car Club in Germany. They call themselves "Friends of SLK". I did meet up with them at the Brabus factory a couple of years ago and they seemed a good bunch of people.

They are going to the Uxbridge Motor Show on 16/17 July as part of a UK holiday this year and I understand a few other UK SLK owners are joining them including (hopefully) me! If you are interested let me know and I can give you more details. It was also them that told me that there is a SLK International Event each year too. Do you know anything about that?

Dricci - sorry about the delay in replying - I have seen your post earlier at work but I cannot post at work and a tad busy during the evenings- you know how it is!!

Details I have are as follows:

They are staying at Master Brewer Hotel, Hillingdon from 14 July to 18 July.

They are having IFM evening of 14th (I think), Friday 15 is sightseeing/theatre, etc. Saturday 16 a Dinner has been arranged at Windsor Castle - I hope to attend that one and on 17 July they are attending the Uxbridge Auto Show. I think about 5 German cars are attending plus a few of us Brits.

Re the International meet - this could be bi-annual but not really sure. I know one was held during September 2003 by the Baltic Sea so if that is the case one is due this year. I will try and find out more this end too and report back.

As regards the setting up of a U.K. division, subject to approval by the President of the club, I have been nominated to be a U.K. point of contact for the club and an announcement will be made on their website next month. I have no idea what this will involve, I'll just have to wait and see!

I would be very interested in taking SLK to Tuscany, in fact it is on my "to do" list over the next couple of years - but sounds hopeful that my plans will be brought a forward. Let me know details once you have them in the events section.

Oh and btw - I am a TVR nut too!

Dricci - Any news on this - Particularly the Tuscany trip?

Thought I'd mention that I met up with the German SLK Club about a month ago. We attended the Uxbridge Auto Show. Just like us they are a forum based club. Check out www.SLK-Freude.de . Click on Fotoalbum and you can see their Englandtour where someone has posted some piccies. They are a great bunch.

Also they are arranging a trip to Scotland (Edinburgh and Perthshire - I think) in August 2006. If anyone fancies meeting up with them for, say, a long weekend. Please post here and I'll let you know more details later. I know its a long way off but its nice to have plenty of notice if any of you do want to join us.
