I drove our SLK today for the first time in months, Missus drives mainly.

I was amazed at how creaky the roof was, even slightly uneven surfaces provoked a creaking and occasionaly a clunk!

The reason I was driving was that the 12 month warranty expired next month and my local dealer had invited me in for a check to see if any warranty work could be done before expiry (a nice touch). Sadly this is not covered by the warranty, at tier 2 I wasn't expecting it would be.

So, I'm wondering if I can fix this? Is it just normal?

The garage indicated that the cables may have stretched a little, I'm wondering if I could tighten up the allen key set back in the roof lining to solve the problem if it is simply stretched cables?

Anyone else experienced this?

Cheers.

Yes, but, respectfully, I wouldnt be tempted to start adjusting any cables unless you really know what you are doing.

There is fix for SLK creaky roofs/seals which involves a special cleaner for the metal and rubber bits and a special silicone lubricant for the same. I used to have a link to the WIS or TSB on this but I have lost it. If you PM DanSLK he will more than likely have it.

Portzy.
