Hi
SLK 320 2002 35.000 miles Auto
I have a "judder" which seems to come from somewhere in the drive train.
It only happens for a few seconds when accelerating away from rest steadily, not slowly but not foot to the floor!, and then disappears. Gear changes seem ok.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

If it hasn't been done yet, an ATF change is due at 37k miles.
It might be an idea to see if you still have the "judder" after the fluid change

Do you have a decent MB indy nearby who you can do the change for you? Should be in the region of £180/£200 inc ATF and new filter.

Thanks for that, I thought it might be gearbox related.
Is it something I could trust to my local guy who services the car?

Ps
I have had a very slight leak of a light fluid, which is not oil, for some time.
Maybe short of fluid?

Low fluid is a possibility. If you trust your guy to change the ATF then go ahead.
If he isn't familiar with the 722.6 MB autobox then find a good MB indy.

Where are you located so maybe someone can suggest somewhere nearby?

Loose exhaust clamps ...can give a judder type noise as I found out recently.

Thanks to all, I'll try Nick Webster and report the result.

Nick Webster in Poynton is the man to talk with.

One of the best in the job, he worked for me 30 years back.

Update:
Been to Nick Webster, instantly diagnosed as a worn "plumber block" on the propshaft.
Booked in for replacement and tracking.
He test drove it, put it on the ramp and checked everything underneath,no charge.
What a great find!
Thanks All

Glad to hear the problem has been diagnosed correctly Paul.

ATF change next service then:D
Yes and I know where to go for servicing now!
Also found a slight play in a front wheel bearing and will do front and rear tracking for £50
My local guy said "can't find anything wrong"
:bannana:
