Hi
Can anyone help . One of my front parking sensors has pushed in . No idea how this was done.

Are you able to access these through the wheel arch (behind headlight etc) if the liner is removed . Otherwise my hubby thinks the whole bumper will need to be removed . He thinks this will take a couple of hours . All sensors have stopped working due to this one being out of place .
Any help gladly received

Thanks

Not sure about access on an SLK but whether it’s repairable depends on whether it’s simply popped out of its housing or if the housing has become detached from the bumper. Not so good if it’s the latter.

It looks like it’s just pushed back . I might have to take it to my guy in Dereham to have a look . I never really bothered about parking sensors on any car but on this they are so helpful . I’ve driven bigger cars and never had them but now !!! Thank you for the reply maybe someone else might know . It’s a 171 Slk btw

Taking the bumper off shouldn't be a particularly time consuming job either

In one of the pics you can see the sensor receptor that can detach.

Hi again

Looking at the pics my hubby thinks he should maybe be able to access through wheel arch. He’s pretty handy at these sort of things so here’s hoping !!!

I don't get how this could have detached.. unless someone held a pressure washer right next to it or something?

It was working fine when I parked it up on Thursday night . I had a guy pick the car up and take it to his garage to change the oil. He is normally very reliable and a friend. It stopped working after he brought the car back . There is also a very small crack in the front bumper very low down. I never pressure wash the car. He never cleaned it either . It’s a mystery and awkward to mention to the guy. He would probably deny all knowledge. I don’t think I’ll be asking him to do any more work . Had it been me damaging someone else’s car I’d be gutted . Awkward all round .

So he's driven into something? Get a discrete dash cam if you use his again :thumb:
Id recommended using a recognised forum indie.

I think he’s blotted his copybook! He has done all our cars in the past and at times taken the mickey . Too many miles added to clock other than trip to workshop and heavy foot on accelerator. We had old Mercedes in the past and stamped service history didn’t seem worth it as service history very limited. He’s a good mechanic but the trust has gone now. It’s mercedes specialists or dealer from now on as we both have reasonably new cars with stamps in the service books .
Thanks everyone for help . As always appreciated

Good idea

It's a shame, but "things happen."

There's a trade off in taking a risk on another Engineer, or paying two or three times as as much (sic) to use a Main agent.

Look around the forum and you'll see that very few people use main agents for routine servicing after five years because of the £120+ / hour cost and impersonal service. At five years plus, they're strictly a choice for "Money No Object" types.

Have you had a conversation with him about why the parking sensor was broken when he returned the car? At the very least he should be given the chance to fix it for you.
