Slk r171 2008 bad radio reception

Anyone solved the issue with bad radio reception?
Just getting worse, is it the amp in the boot below the ariel thats at fault?
Driving down motorway i just lose reception, in town get static sound very easily

We've seen problems with amp, with the middle piece (attached to body) and once weirdly with the mast which was strange. Normally the amp though unless there is obvious damage to other parts

do you mean antenna amp?

According to engineering mode antenna amp is ok.

It does seem to be a grounding issue

If its the main unit thats loads of cash right?

Was thinking of changing the headunit to aftermarket but not sure if the dashboard function would work?
