An SLK R171 with lots of toys and a Golf Plus for fishing.
Just had a call from MB Harrogate. They have test drive booked for me on Tuesday at 11.00 in an SLK 200 with all the bits, and I mean all the bits :D . Do I decline this kind offer or do I fall for this marketing ploy which, I feel, surely, is bound to succeed

Go for it! You know you want to! :D

I don't think that kind of offer will be forthcoming from Charles Sidney!

If you can manage without a rear seat, then you know you want one !!!

Otherwise . . . decline the offer quick . . or it could be expensive !

I dont think so either, Charlie died a couple of years ago its 'Derwent Mercedes' now. I ask you, who would name a dealership after a mucky river that runs through Malton. I'll get flamed for that :o . I'll also end up in a certain ladys' bad books as well if said lady doesnt get a drive next week. Pammy?, over to you! :o

All things considered, I think I know where i'll be come Tuesday at 11.00 :D

So I can safely venture into the Pannal area again?, he said, with a gradually reducing pulse :D

Pannal's always safe - I'd just avoid Follifoot's lanes ;) :D

For the sheer amusement of it , i once stuck a radar detector up on the windscreen on a test drive :D

Salesmans face was priceless :)

 Hubby's pushing me to put a deposit down on the 350 I want

Should I or shouldn't I? I'm too unsure about what the trade in on mine would be in say 12 months time

I must be ill or sommat - don't usually have this trouble spending money :(

Common woman, you don't want a BMW Z4 do you? :D
Must be other 'distractions' ;)

I don't think I do want a Z4. :o

TT - no way - prices have plummeted for them and they are far to common.

Boxster - now funny you should say that  :D but I said the same to hub's last night. In so much as if we are going to spend £42k on a car - is the SLK the best one to do it on. He backs off saying it's up to me :( But the big thing I like about the SLK is the vario roof - it's what sold it to me in the first place. It really is the best of both worlds.

So - a serious question here - if you had £42k to spend what would you get? The rules are - a 2 seater sports car that's quality, reliable, safe, not too common (in fact there are lots of Boxsters around here) and knowing I do like MB...........

Well you have answered your own question Pammy.

For 42k you could start and look at a Lexus SC430 ... now that is a nice car :)

Totally diferent class to the SLK and Rare as hens teeth if thats what floats your boat.

If you want a MB, The Vario Roof, A 350 engine and are looking at 12 months time and about £42k. Why not think about a used 2003 SL 350. There about £50k now so in 12 months time they may be near your price.
Its a nice step up from your car and someone else has takin the main depreciation hit and its a modern/new model.

Having just seen top gear, are you sure you want to get one? It seems to be living up to the usual high standard of current Mercedes cars : blown transmission, dodgy electronics and breakdowns
