What is your meaning about this car?
I was driving it for about a half a year, and it sucked...
Now I bought c200 sports coupe and it rock, but my friend said thaht SLK was much better, and I don't know how to proof him he is wrog
So please say something bad about this car

How about your reasons as to why it was not good and what you expected, and the difference you see with the C200?

I had one, It wasn't the best sports car on the market, but it had the best roof, mine was well enough put togther and the boot is definatly bigger than the R171. I liked it. I swapped it for a Subaru WRX coz i idiotically, needed some space, but i missed the quality feel of Mercedes. Have had 2 SLK's since. The news ones are not as comfortable on the roads, but are alot more capable in a sporting sense.

I thought the sports coupe was a bit soft! and i had trouble finding the roof switch!!!!

SLK was somthin' like the bad attempt of MB to build a roadster. The model, that is now is a sportscar plius minus, and the one before (R170?) was a disasster

i wouldnt call it a disaster. if you want a small premium roadster than it was a good vehicle, especially the 320 V6...

the C class and SLK are two totally different styles of car..... so you cant really compare them well.

Both are sport models.
Exept that SLK is uncomfortible and small unlike CLK, and CLK has better engines in some modifications like CLK 55AMG.

The CLK is a four seater coupe the SLK a two seater sports - they are very different cars. I find mine very comfortable indeed. I'm not really sure what you're trying to get at with this

I love my SLK320 which model SLK are you trying to compare, there were 4 of the 170 - 200, 230, 320 and 32AMG. The latter two are the dogs danglies.

It's horses for courses but I've just driven home in glorious sunshine - roof off and had a ball.

I agree with Pammy, horses for courses on this one :

If you want speed and have unlimited budget - buy a Bugatti Veyron
If you want speed and have large budget - buy an SLR or anything AMG
If you want speed and have medium budget - buy a WRX / Skyline / Evo /
If you want speed and have small budget - buy a plane ticket
If you want speed and have a tiny budget - buy a wrap from some spotty kid in a hoodie in town - but be aware it will be talcum powder.

If you want comfort and have unlimited budget - buy a super RV
If you want comfort and have large budget - buy a Bentley
If you want comfort and have medium budget - buy a coupe or saloon
If you want comfort and have small budget - buy sofa
If you want comfort and have a tiny budget - buy a cushion.

Now if you want a combination of speed and comfort, then depending on budget the choices become endless - that is why there are so many cars being manufactured, sold and driven.

I bought the 170 230K because I no longer felt the need for speed and wanted to get rid of my skyline which was doing 17mpg. Yes I could have bought a Honda S2000, but I spend a lot of time abroad which means the car spends a lot of time in car parks - solid hood versus soft hood seemed more secure to me.

Omis don't come on to a Merc forum and start claiming that MB cars suck, this is always going to result in a flaming.

It sounds to me like you bought an SLK thinking it was a "roadster". Not sure what your defnition of a roadster is but clearly the SLK came short of the mark - that's not the car's fault its yours, you should have bought a Boxter or an S2000.

Omis, i dont want to flame you but this sounds a pretty pointless thread you have created.

No! They are two different cars; see what others have said above! I thought u wanted to compare it against a C Class anyway - CLK and C class are again, 2 different cars with different characeristics....


you can only really compare an SLK against a boxter or something which would be its competitor, or another SLK such as coimparing the new style SLK and the old, or comparing a 230 SLK with a 320 SLK. To compare two completeley different cars, aimed at a different market, type of driving etc is never going to get a proper result.

for example, i say in my sig i sold and miss my CLK convertable. Yes i do, but would i prefer to have it instead of my BMW 7...? no, thats not because the 7 series is a much better car, its because *I* prefer big saloon cars and the cabrio didnt suit me.... but the clk was still a fantastic car, but i could never try to compare it to my BMW as both cars have completely different uses, and are aimed at completely different owners.... Note the *I* ... its all personal preference.

Nope.

CLK and CLK cabriertables are 4 seaters, the SLK is a 2 seater. totally different animals in both driving dynamics and normal road use.

You are trying to get people to say the SLK is worse than a C Class so you can prove something to your firend.

The fact is, if you prefer the C coupe, then thats your choice, and your friend disagrees, unless you need to change your friends mind, which is a bit pointless, you should be happy with the choice you made. If he thinks you have choosen badly, I am sure, on here, you will find people who like C sports. if, on the other hand, your friend comes on here, he will find people who support his/her views of the SLK.

and the CLK32 AMG had the SLK32 AMG engine or was it the other way around?. in fact the R170 was a chopped down C Class to start with, the C sport coupe you have, is the same C Class with 2 less doors. and a hatch.

but if you really want something bad to say about it.

rear leg room is diabolical in the SLK. and the latest version is no better at all.
