SLK230 R170 central locking problems

Hi all. New member here. I have two SLK R170s, both with central locking problems. The batteries in the fob are fine, but the indicators flash one and three times rather than two. Both issues started straight after the cars were jump started then had new batteries fitted. Fuses are fine. I've tried two methods suggested on the Internet but nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions please??

On my R171 and S204 the indicators flash once when you unlock and 3 times when you lock!

I'm sure it used to be twice but it's been faulty on my first SLK for a few months now so can't remember! The second SLK was bought last week and apparently worked fine until the jump start and battery change - my OH unlocked it, opened the boot and put the roof shelf in place. I'm totally baffled by it!
