SLK55 Kleemann engine headers

that does sound good :D is there much more noise in the cabin and does it feel any quicker ?

Lovely noise, a friend has kleeman headers on his cls55 and that also sounds superb.

Sounds even better in real life, the video was recorded on Olly's cheap phone, lol. :p

Yes, there's more V8 noise in the cabin, only when you press on though, cruising on the motorway you wouldn't think it's had any modification done, sounds very close to standard.

The last thing I wanted was just 'loud' noise, I wanted more of a typical AMG V8 noise and this is exactly what I have now, sounds absolutely amazing now.

It's hard to say wether it's faster with this weather, it's been raining, so I haven't had a chance to open her up properly, it 'feels' more urgent is all I can say right now...

I was behind my wife yesterday, she was driving the 911 GTS, she floored it and there wasn't much of a gap between us.. She even said how amazing it sounds now and that's saying allot coming from her, lol. :D

I'll be taking the car to my friend at West-Tuning to run it on the dyno to see if there's any flat spots etc and maybe adjust the remap.

I've spent so much money on modifications over the years, including buying a £1500 Renntech CF air box which was a bit of a waste tbh only gave something like 8hp on the dyno however these kleemann headers and down pipes are by far the best mod I've ever done, chuffed with them - worth every penny.

Update :D

So yesterday I took the car to Birmingham to see Acid for a EUROCHARGED dyno map by Jerry.

As some of you know the car was already remapped by west-tuning before I fitted the kleemann headers & down pipes.

We ran it on the MSL dyno as soon as I got in and the car pushed 324WHP and 393ift TQ.

So Acid did his thing, took the ECU out, extracted everything and sent it over to Jerry to modify and map the car with the kleemann mods.. A few hours later the car is back on the dyno and the results after the Eurocharged remap is better.

At the wheels it pushed 336WHP & 407ibft TQ

I'm very pleased with results and the Eurocharged remap, it's now FAST & LOUD. :D

So many thank to Acid and Jerry for their work, as always never disappoint.

Sssshhhiiiinny! Nice work, glad you are happy with results. Looks and sounds great.

Hi
Sounds veeeeery good mate thumb up
What's the 415bhp are for in the slk55 specs if yours after headers and remap shows 335 whp?

Thanks guys!

415hp is what Kleemann quote with their Headers, down pipes and remap.

I couldn't get to that figure.

I used this site before and found it to be spot on.

http://www.mk5cortinaestate.co.uk/calculator4.php

According to this site 336whp = 402hp fly.

I could defiantly feel the extra gains, no doubt it's allot faster especially mid range, wow!!

Did I mention it sounds so brutal now too.

That sounds fab Joe.

So its got the headers and downpipes on and looks like an x pipe, is the rest stock? Looks like the secondary cats are still on is the silencer and back boxes still there?

Does it feel much quicker than the C55?

The colour and those wheels....best looking SLK55 ive seen for me.

Thank bud, I do love it.

Yes, Kleemann headers, down pipes, X-pipe and now a Eurocharged map.

The resonator is gone, it has an x-pipe in place now and the back boxes are still there.

Yes left the secondary cats in as the primary cats are gone now.

Hmm it's faster now defiantly but I wouldn't say much faster than your c55, your c55 made almost the same figures on the dyno with just a remap & Renntech CF air box 398hp I believe? but that c55 needed an LSD.

Here's the ECU out, getting mapped, had a bit of a scare..

When we tried to map the car via the OBD port the car didn't start, so Acid took the ECU out, extracted the files and sent it over to Jerry.

I'm not going to lie, I was slightly worried however Acid wasn't at all, in fact he was laughing.. Lol. :D

sounds the nuts, SLK looking good !

Update**

So the ECU was sent away to Kleemann yesterday to remap it again to turn off the EML light.

Nothing wrong with the EC tune, Jerry just can't seem turn off the EML light.

My good man Acid has agreed to refund me the remap money.

Here's a quick clip of how the car sounds with the Kleemann headers & down pipes.

Hey Josef,

Followed your SLK 55 AMG mod thread with interest, thanks for sharing!

I've recently picked up a low mile SLK 55 AMG and am considering some mods, I wondered if you could help with a few questions?

I ideally want lots more noise under acceleration (but not a motorway drone) and a little more power would be nice, so I was thinking of doing x pipe + Headers + remap.

I know you have done the x pipe first, then the headers + map - what is the difference in living with them in terms of noise and performance?

Also, what should I expect to pay for headers + a remap and where should I go? I'm based in Scotland but would obviously travel for the right tuner.

Cheers,

A

Hi mate,

Best mod I have carried out on the car was the Kleemann headers/down pipes, you'll need to remap the car to turn off the EML light.

£1600 fitted plus £450-500 for live remap.

Noise is incredible now, cruising on the motorway I'd say there's only a slight increase over standard till you hammer it, then it's LOUD and not just loud it's nice loud but there's no droning when cruising.

I took my car to Olly@PCS who are a Kleemann dealer, they carried out the work and even sent my ECU to Kleemann HQ in Denmark to get mapped.

He can give you a courtesy car while they sort your car out.

Your other option is Acid at MSL who can also supply & fit these Kleemann headers.

Dyno'd my car at SRR the other week and it pushed 406.3HP & 416ibft TQ.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Joe

Thanks!

Sounds like a beast!

What do you do about MOT with the headers and presumably X-pipe together?

A

If its similar to the C63 its got no chance, from what people on here have said.

I thought the secondary cats didn't have much in em, and the primaries do most of the work lol.
