Mercedes SLS AMG trailers for 3D film On Sky3D This Sunday
Car fans in the UK who live near a pub with Sky 3D television will get the chance to check out a short film of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG on Sunday. Called "Manx Meister", it features former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard pushing the car to its limits, reaching speeds up to 162 mph.
Filmmakers were able to secure the closure of the A18 Mountain Road on the Isle of Man for the shoot. The picturesque stretch of road, part of the Snaefell Mountain Course, has been used in road races since 1911. The crew claims this to be the "fastest 3D has ever been shot on land."
This is probably true, as tracking shots of the car were filmed from another SLS AMG. The chase vehicle was driven by former WRC driver Robbie Head. Various other cars and helicopters were also used in the production, as you will be able to see from the videos here.
Those not able to catch the Pub-cast this weekend, will be able to watch Manx Meister at Mercedes-Benz dealerships. Showrooms will begin showing the film this fall.
