Surely that's only a gear knob - not the whole lever and surround?

So you unscrew (or whatever you do to remove it from the lever) your gear knob and screw that one in its place.

No buttons should be harmed in the making of this modification.

I'm guessing you only get the actual Knob on top and it would therefore not affect the C-S-M button.

In that case it would be very easy to replace by just untwisting the clip under the leather cover and giving the old one a sharp pull to remove. No idea if the new knob would fit though.

looks nice but will it suit your car it may is a personal thing

That's the thing, it looks nice in the images and even the colour matches my trim but will it look nice when fitted? that's what i'm slightly worried about...

I have the same car as you, and I think it would look pretty silly to be honest. I'm pretty happy with the standard gear knob, but not 100%. Every time I'm in a Merc garage or on Ebay I look for a nice replacement with AMG or the merc star on it.

If you fit that model to the car, you would either have a leather skirt on it or a long pole sticking out the bottom.

Ok, thinking about it more I think it will not suit the car so I decided I'm not doing it now, you guys saved me £70, thanks.:D

Ok well, I didnt go for the SLS style but I enhanced the standard one with this:

Should of came like this from factory!

And where did you find that knob? Do you think it would fit a w202 ?

looks good, you`ll change it again when you put in keyless go ;)

BenzedUP, how did you get the gear knob cap off so that you could change it? I had a good tug on my knob and it wouldn't budge.

Hi mate, It's a thin metal plate that you stick on top of your OEM gear knob.

If you look on the US forum, should be there, if I remember rightly there was a link to a site, i'll see if I can find it for you.

PM'd you back btw. :)
