WHY???

What a waste of parts! Those wheels, engine?

Wanton vandalism ...

Either an ex experimental / unsafe / poorly repaired vehicle which had to be destroyed , or proceeds of crime type destruction .

Proceeds of crime, perhaps acceptable but even so could they not recover parts and sell, proceeds to charity, victim support or somesuch?

Those alloys alone would be worth a couple of £k?

I'd have given them £50 for it, and had it collected too...

Just the chassis and vin numbers for that car will be worth 50k in 20 years, they are very rare.

Sickening regardless of reason.

In all probability its an act of political symbolism by an anti drug enforcement agency. It derives its power from peoples reaction to it. It only works if you feel its important.

Horrible just watchin the guy not be able to pick it up.

Proper cringe

Why oh why...

We don't know the circumstances but , for example , in the case of a vehicle classified as a Category A total loss ( not saying that this was one ) no parts are allowed to be recovered .

Often car manufacturers destroy prototypes after they have served their purpose .

Without knowing more , we can't comment on the reasons for this .

One of the comments suggests the car was an illegal import into the US and all such confiscated cars get crushed. It would also preclude removing parts for sale.

Either way it's painful to watch.....

If that was indeed being crushed because it was proceeds of crime, would anyone here really be willing to buy it and run around in it? The world is a very small place and seeing as information isn't as secure as we'd always hope, there would always be the chance that a friend of the scummy parasitic criminal lowlife might spot it or trace it.

Apologies but whilst it is heartbreaking to see such a wonderful thing destroyed, I like to think that the criminal from whom it was taken is having the same reactions as many so far when he/she sees this clip, thus getting a tiny taste of the misery they have caused to countless others and that is a good thing, isn't it?….just a thought.

I think my autocorrect feature got the better of me on my original post and I didn't check before pressing post reply.
Anyway what a waste of resources what they should have done was carefully dismantle the car and sell off the parts, it would have been a lot more constructive as the proceeds could have gone to drug related charities or whatever criminal behaviour may have caused its seizure if indeed that was the reason. It sadly landed up being destroyed which I think is truly dumb.

Indeed , I recall hearing about a high value vehicle ( it was a prestige 4x4 but I can't remember if it was an Audi , BMW or Range Rover ) which was seized as proceeds of crime and turned over to Strathclyde Police ,as they then were , the thinking being that as well as being put to good use it would doubtless sicken the criminal it had been taken from to see 'his' vehicle being used for law enforcement .

However , it wasn't long before , even though the vehicle was sitting in a secure police yard , some of the gangster's associates broke in and tried to 'torch' the vehicle .

If that can happen to the vehicle in police hands , I wouldn't give much hope of a private owner being left to enjoy it in peace .

When I worked for Bentley cars, engineering fleet durability vehicles were put in the crusher at the end of there use...normally most were 3/4yrs old max.

It was a black Q7 Derek, regularly seen flying around in Glasgow City Centre
