sluggish, engine, no kick down

:bannana: Hi all I have recently had issues with my e320 where it was very sluggish and kick down stopped working, I read some recent posts about checking the gear box oil level which i did, I thought it better that i got some professional advice, I booked the car into local MB van supplier he put car on their star machine and found the issue was flow meter not working correctly,
I checked the wiring to this to find a wire had been worn out by the engine cover so sorted that, then purchased a new air flow meter and the car is now running as new, thought I would share this info it may save someone some time.

Wouldn't just repairing the wire sort it out? Or was the AFM goosed also?
