Small Engined Auto £1500 ish

Hi All,

I’m on the lookout for a small engined automatic car. Budget between £1k-£2k and must be in decent condition. It’s for an older family member as a first car.

When I say small engined it can be up to 2 litres.

My wife has a brilliant 2l Petrol RAV4 Automatic 3 door 54 plate , 75k miles and runs like a new car , have had 3 of them and all have been really reliable ( one engine sensor on the second one ) Other than Road tax (£300 ) have been very cheap to run. We keep thinking we might change to a hybrid but nothing gives us a good 4x4 performance in a small package, pity they stopped making the 3 door version in about 2005 otherwise we would change for a later version with a few more goodies, as it is we will keep running the one we have.

The 5 door versions are usury cheaper than the 3 door as there are more of them around as they kept them in production
