My 04 SMART PULSE has the dreaded low compression issue on the engine its running very rough indeed and the engine management light is on. I have been told I need a new engine!

I have founbd a chap in Elswick near to Fleetwood called Kieron O'Connor. He specialises in rebuilding SMART engines and has quoted about £1100. Has anyone had any experience of him and would it be better to get a new engine for my PULSE or go for the strip down and repair?

Any help is appreciated. Also, am I likely to further damage the engine if I try and drive it to the garage

First- how much longer do you intend to keep the car?

Second- Does that rebuilt quote include removal and fitting?:dk:

Third- what sort of WRITTEN warranty is offered with the rebuild -- how long will it last and is it transferable to a new owner possible vital selling point??:thumb:

Other posts have mentioned 1/2 blocks for around £600 if you are into DIY. These engines are so small removal and bench rebuild is a distinct possibility|?
