e320 coupe
I paid £500 to cover my E320 Coupe, only to find that buried in the small print is the fact that 60% of the car is not covered. No cover on roof, bonnet or doors??? not really a lot left. Also if the company decides it cannot do a repair elsewhere then they can merely just walk away. What a waste of money.
Salesman at MB North Wales told me it covered everything except the wheels :(and would keep my car in the condition i purchased it. Obviously now i have a stone chip i get referred to exclusions, i expected better from MB. Do not buy this product unless you read the exclusions....

Insurance misselling? Worth having a conversation with the dealer.

I have spoken to North Wales MB. They quote the list of exclusions they failed to mention when they sold me it. They are not interested. Considered small claims, however terms and conditions clearly state it so i think i am stuffed!!!

I would kick up a bit more of a fuss and push for a refund of the £500... Its clear fraud...

Problem is you have no real proof.

I think it's fair to say that you were under the impression that your whole car was
covered for dings, chips, and scratches, after all that is where smart repair pitches
it's business.
why would you just cover the areas that would be less likely to sustain this type
of damage?you would not.
cancel it and get a rebate, clearly unacceptable.

I can say for sure that they would sell 0 of these policies if they made intending customers aware the policy doesnt cover the whole car. The areas of the car excluded are the parts that suffere from minor dings and chips the most.

Its like taking life cover but it wont pay out if you die in an accident or through sickness. No one would take them out.

they won't budge so i suppose i am stuffed! would small claims court work?

Go back and say...

"I know you said you weren't prepared to help me, but it seems I must first formally complain to you before the ombudsman will take the case to the next stage. Here's my complaint in writing. Can you sign this note I've prepared to confirm receipt please? Thank yooooo."

how to complain ? the first steps

Also, makes note of the conversation at the point of sale. If they offered you advice they could be in a tricky situation, as I doubt the person you dealt with was authorised to do so...

Smart insurance

I have just bought an approved used SLK 350 and was told the insurance covers everything.

I quote :

If you get any damage that falls within a 15 cm radius, whether it be a dent, scuff or scratch, then the damage falls within the SMART insurance policy and will be covered. A Mercedes-Benz trained technician will come to your house or workplace and repair the damage on site.
The insurance lasts for 3 years and helps keep your new car in tip top condition!

There is a charge of £10 per callout. This is not £10 per damage, this is £10 every time a technician comes to repair your vehicle. So what a lot of customer do is wait until they have a few marks on the car before they get the technician to visit.

I have asked for t&c's so thank you

better still use one of those digital recorders or switch your mobile on to record your conversations - no need to tell them you are recording.

Key the wings and rear quarters....fix that you feckers.....
