Smell of Petrol Inside

I can smell fuel inside the car when its started.

Any idea why this is ?

If it only happens when you start it, then there is fuel hose that is seeping. Do not ignore it and get it replaced quickly.

2000-2002 was known to have a faulty crimp in the fuel line between a certain range. It was a MANDATORY recall and free.

Crack in the fuel tank also possible.

Whatever it is you need to get it fixed URGENTLy for your own safety.

Take it to an expert and have peace of mind.

My W202 used to do this on startup. Turned out to be a very tiny weep from one of the rubber fuel pipes from the rear where the pump and filter connect.

The thing with petrol is that even though the teak can be tiny it stinks like hell.
