Hi

I'm have an e220 2016 (facelift)

It's a year old and covered 6k miles. I noticed while stationary that after about 5 minutes there seemed to be a fair bit of smoke coming from the exhaust while idling.

Not faults on the dash and I've had several modern merc diesels in recent years but never seen this before. Although not as bad as an old bus but still noticeable in the mirror.

I know it's under warranty but just a little concerned.

Should I be?

Are you sure it's not steam??

Normal to release steam , often a product of reactions occurring in catalytic coverter

100% sure it's not steam.

Car hasn't been driven for over a week if that helps.

Get your local garage to stick their exhaust gas analyser up the tailpipe and see what it says .

All appears normal now.

I can only assume that I was wrong and it was steam or a dpf regen.
