Buy genuine, the only way to get the correct spec. MB prices very reasonable. Recommended you change both sides to maintain handling.

Sachs
Kyb
Suplex

In that order.

Thats not the usual recommended choice.

Most here go oem or Eibach.

Sachs I know but the other two are almost alien to me for Mercs.

I can get Sachs with a good price tag via ECP

Genuine mercedes springs arent expensive and are precisely matched according to not only engine size but accessories too.

Unless you intend to lower the car, that would be my recommendation.

I've seen mercs sitting sky high after fitting generic aftermarket springs.

It is if you are on a budget, as the op stated.

Genuine Merc springs are no better than the next brand for failure.

All of the above can also supply springs specific for your vehicle instead of just model and engine, most fail to note elegance,Avantgarde and sports pack etc.

Mine is just the standard classic model.

The roads around the UK are getting worse !

I know the feeling. My wife's Toyota Avensis front o/s spring snapped a few weeks ago (luckily while parked up) and took out a brand new tyre when it went.

The car has done 149k.

Is it worth swapping out the shocks while I have the springs off ?

The springs are a very quick job for a specialist with the right tool so I would say that its probably not necessary to change the shocks at the same time unless of course they feel like they are end of life.

Just ordered 2 from ECP. And 2 shocks from GSF

Might as well do the lot while I'm on

That's this weekend gone. Lol

The platform on the shock is adjustable, make sure it's the same as your old now before fitting, slide the platform upwards and there is snap ring underneath.

Cheers for the info. Found the ring. Will double check before I fit
