Snow!

It's settled here but unfortuantely I think I'll be able to get the car off the drive in the morning...

In that case just take the air out of all the tyres and you'll be able to claim being immobilised :D.

I would but A) I have to be somewhere and B) the car's in the garage so no excuse for not blowing them back up again...

Outside my office road is clear - Lambeth.. Top of hill Crystal Palace (200 yards away) Croydon, no clear tracks

Just had an aborted trip to the station, about to try again to drop off assistant at station. Taxis are running at a massive backlog..

Not quite armageddon, but I'm not expecting to get the car out the drive tomorrow..

Glad I fixed the ABS, it certainly made its presence felt earlier..

The one time a set of winter tyres would be useful.

Just in case anyone does have to drive in this stuff, you get more traction in the fresh snow than in the tracks of someone else.

Also, you can check the camera's before you leave :

On another note, I always thought non-ABS was better to help you stop in the snow. I am sure there is a report on this somewhere on the web, something to do with the build up of a wedge of snow. IIRC.

Cheers Ian

Got about 15cm of snow outside in Richmond now.

Snow just stopped falling here, went out in it earlier just cos i love driving in the snow, the old Coupe loves it, fired up straight away and handled the slippy stuff great, tall skinny tyres work fine and as i dont have ABS anyway im not suprised when it dont work like most of the people i was watching this evening. :D

Here she is waiting for another bit of fun in the morning. :D

Snow report from Orpington (Kent).
Its still coming down thick and fast.
Driving is out the question.
I am seriously considering not even bothering to walk to the rail station later as I am now of the opinion nothing will be running.
And then of course there is the problem of getting back home again just as it all starts to re-freeze.
I shall evaluate the situation around 6am.

Stay in bed

4iAM in south london and its 6in deep and still coming down.just leaving for work.
Stay in bed folks.

Snow? where?

not a flake, drop or bean of it here.

Oh right. we are all dead then! well nice knowing you.

Am sure when life returns to the whole country (london) we may have struggled on.

Is it me, or does winter come round every year?

I am sure we had a bit of snow this time last year. Maybe that was a one off, and this came as a surprise.

You would have thought the Met office might have said something on Friday, to give you a bit of notice. Seems Thursday was too early notice and everyone forgot.

I shall wrap up warm for the drive to work, snowless.

And as I am 500miles nearer the north pole, I shall have a moment to laugh about it too.

Snow, Pah!

less than 2" of snow here and they've cancelled the busses, the trains, all the schools are closed - oh, not only have they not bothered gritting the roads we are all being advised not to go out

We are all doomed

About 8" here in South London and still snowing. Meeting predictably cancelled. The drive home last night was interesting, passed various rwd cars being pushed up the hill (my drive home is all down hill...) ABS was entertaining and practiced my D to N technique, was quite good fun in an experimental kind of way.... the words 'agreed value' kept flashing through my brain.... (and why haven't I...)

One of our guys is on the air bed in Junior B's room as the trains were cancelled last night and the other is hopefully not stuck at home as we've an impending deadline....

About to walk up to the childminder, Junior B is pretty excited about seeing everything differently :D

I'd love it if every winter was like this, the city looks fantastic and at least the infrastructure would work...

Inch and a bit in West Lothian. Hate being retired when it's like this. Can't get a day off. ;)
