Sorry, the old crystal ball is on the blink. Can you give us a clue by telling us:

a) How old the car is
b) What's the current mileage
c) What "extras" have been quoted for (e.g. gearbox oil change, brake fluid change, etc.)

Service plan?

I would only use an Indy if I was keeping the car for years and years, otherwise if it's fairly new, it's just a false economy as if you px it as it won't be retail-able again with a Fred in a shed stamp, then would be an auction car and potentially have a lower trade in value.

Just my 2p anyway.

I think you're insulting a lot of very good professional indies with manufacturer trained staff by calling them "Fred in a shed".

Unless it is a particularly high-end model, you would generally expect to see dealer stamps for first three years, then specialist.

As long as it's not Kwik-Fit but 'proper' specialist, I can't see that having the car serviced by an Indy from year 4 onward would make any difference to resell value.

Pop down to see Phil at Staithes garage in Dunston. He comes very highly recommended on both MB forums!

Shall we start a quiz to guess vehicle age and mileage:dk:

Thats certainly not the intention.

When it comes to service work though, it's apprentice stuff. Box full of oil and bits, some basic tools and a few hours.

For the daily, I like mobilo, potential of future good will and the (digital) stamps.

My old donkey gets my novice hands messing around with it and a MB technician friend when I mess it up

One look at his profile picture and then a quick glance at his profile would suggest it's a w204 so anything from 2007 onwards- of course if one would take the extra few seconds to look at OPs posts then the mileage would also come to light!...

Very efficient Ash. But come on, have a guess. The winner gets a coconut. :bannana:

That's pretty much what I was quoted for a B Service plus fuel filter and brake fluid change on a C250.

Indy is going to cost you around the £460 based on my ringing around. The fuel filter was around £100 just by itself.

Extras are likely to be a brake fluid change, [ every two years] fuel filter change [ every 4 years/46,500 miles ] and air filter change [every 4 years/46,500miles ]--- costs on these are inflated by Main dealer labour rates involved since these basic units can be hidden under other components which have to be removed. Likely to add approx £250-300 to the basic B service. If you look on your DASH display it will say something like Service B ** the ** denotes the extra operations. If you use the service portal on the MB website it will tell you all this.

Phil is actually closed until the 8th August due to being on holiday! I am venturing up there on the 23rd, as he is pretty busy up until then!
