What a waste of a good old Merc
I never did like the episodes where the Top Gear trio were smashing cars. If you like cars, you just don't do that. I find it cringeworthy. And yes I know that old cars get scrapped anyway... but still.
I doubt the current crop of cars would survive as well
I would have bought that happily for £695 and restored it back to its former glory. Not that it was in particularly bad condition to begin with
Strange it has no Mot history? What a waste of a Merc, 167k Miles and interior still looked ok.
Never was a fan of vbh tended to spend her test drives squealing like a child
The fact it still drove at the end really shows just how good those old Mercs are.
No clue about MOT history pal, maybe as it was (I assume) scrapped it gets deleted?
According to some sites the VED expired in 2006... so no wonder it has no digital MOT history.
The video clip was released on YouTube in 2014, but when was it actually filmed? Perhpas in 2006 or 2007?
Yup - it was filmed in 2006, check the date on these unofficial (ripped) clips:
Series 9 episode 8 29th MAY 2006 the one with Behind Mission Impossible 3 • Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano • Destroy a 16 years old Mercedes
So the car was 16 years old when they smashed it up...
Maybe back in the day when the car was crushed it wasnt the beloved Merc that it is today. Maybe it was just ‘a car’.
In the early 90’s I had a Escort RS Turbo MK1 and an RS500 Sierra Cosworth. Back in the day they were ‘just cars’.
