Some fun with STAR (with Dev Mode)

Haha! Yes mate! :bannana: When do I start?

So some more stuff done on STAR today, namely TC Lockup Clutch Adaptation and SHIFT Adaptations (upshift, downshift, and deceleration downshift)

Firstly, it's a pig to do, keeping the car in the green bit (correct torque and rev's etc. and then holding it for 5-6 seconds is surprisingly hard to do.

At first, it was hard to do, then I did the TC Clutch Lockup reset and then did the adaptation, much easier.

Then I did shift adaptations only for the gears I felt could be improved / shift smoother, and I can state it's made the 1-2 and 2-1 shifts so much smoother, not as silky as the other gears but much better. :bannana:

I will try to adapt again and see if I can improve it further, lets see. I'll keep the thread updated.

You can only do this on a private lane due to the low speed, shift patterns and having to sometimes often coast to a stop!

Any questions - or any suggestions or tips - post em up. :thumb:

It makes more sense to do a full fluid flush out before the tranny adaptations.
You're getting dangerous with that machine U !

Agreed, a FULL Flush would be the best way forward, unfortunately when I had the Gearbox fluid replaced last time, the TC was not flushed and this was a complete waste of money.

Once I've got a bit of money I'll book my car in for a FULL Gearbox, TC and filter change and I think that should just make the changes silky smooth and just better to be fully flushed rather than mixing old fluid from the TC :wallbash:

Nothing new to report on the STAR front, I hooked it up to a W210 and was bored with how little you can do with it for the older cars and the interface was Terminal based (HHTWIN)

Will continue playing this weekend and report more.

Been a little unwell recently,

However got some time to have a play yesterday and am currently testing and playing with a number of features to see if they are worth enabling.

Sunroof and windows close automatically when it rains.

Going to look into this and have a play / test.

You can do either sunroof or windows or both.

I need to have a test run as sometimes you get an odd sweep when there is little or no rain and also sometimes you have the window cracked open a little - I don't then want the window closing itself constantly.

You can do stuff like disable seatbelt warner etc. but I would rather not.

Also looking into replacing the REAR SAM with a later version so I can enable flashing brake lights (on emergency braking).

Mirror fold on lock / unlock for W203 and probably others: forgot to post how to do this:

1.
Information & Communication -> IC Inst. Cluster -> Control Unit Adapt. -> Select MY > Variant Coding -> Special Equipment -> Mirror Fold-In - SET TO: PRESENT

2.
Body -> System Diag. -> Control Unit Adapt. -> Read Coding and Change > Programming of Vehicle Equip -> Folding Outside Mirrors - SET TO: FITTED

3.
Seats & Doors -> DCM-FL > Adapt. -> Read Coding and Change -> Fold In Outside Mirror When Locking - SET TO: ACTIVATED

You may need to restart the instrument cluster, (instructions in my other post) this will then show the menu item for the mirror fold and unfold.

May I suggest you do the passenger rear view mirror swing downwards in reverse gear on the W203? It really is convenient when parking. Tried to have it done but the tech said it's most probably not available as my wife's facelift W203 is a classic!? It is possible on the Avantgarde & Elegance.

From having read about this, my understanding is that only cars with memory seats can have the reverse dip enabled on it as they have a different DCM.

I have it on my W209 but it was enabled from factory but it also does have memory seats.

I will check on the W203 if anything comes up for the dip mirror on reverse.

thanks a lot, mbzclk! you helped me a lot.
managed to reset SBC with my super mb star

can a 2004 w211 with xenon (single, not dual) be changed to cornering lights?

Now I’m back in a Benz I think I’ll be purchasing a star and getting this thread moving again, any interest?
