As the title, went to the supermarket today came out and I have a nice white go faster stripe the full length of the drivers side, which on a Volvo V70is a bl*ody long scratch. I just wish I could catch them doing this as I would gladly do time for pulping the one little braincell these delinquent lowlife have. I have never seen this in any other country I have spent time in, it appears another trait of our unruly Society with parents that can't bring their kids up properly to respect other peoples property.

OK rant over on a serious note does anyone know a really good professional paint correction specialist (detailer) within a couple of hours drive of Doncaster as I think with a bit of work it may come out, but it's well beyond my capabilities in paint correction. Even if most of it comes out a smart repair may fix the rest, I really don't want to have all the panels painted.

What a lovely Sunday

Correct they don't key cars in other countries...in Germany they burn them.

What a bummer - I don't know how I would react if I caught someone doing this to mine - I suspect similar to what you described!

Well within your 2 hours in Knaresborough - Body repair shop, auto refinishing, Harrogate, Leeds, York - Chris Gregory

This guy is a magician - he managed to do a partial mid panel respray (brilliant silver) on an earlier car of mine - absolutely invisible.

Don't know how expensive he is (the above was funded by the supplying dealer of my car) but worth a call at least

It is enraging. You have my sympathy.

All I could tell myself having had the same done to my Z4 is that the person that did it must be living in a low rent brain and their life will be screwed up, always a mess, and they are never going to be happy. Evermore. Ha Ha!

What a sickener !
Sorry to hear this Ian.
Hope you get sorted without undue hassle.

Post a pic or two then perhaps our resident detailers can advise?

I have to admit this is the biggest reason to shop online, and they wonder why the "highstreet" is dying....?

In general such vandalism is rarely random and usually has some very minor incident creating it.
I recall thinking nothing to untoward when i nearly reversed into some local teenage cyclists- until my car started getting scratched weeks later.
I had another car at the time which i never drove parked outside and that never got scratched.

Will do, I need to wash the car off first to see what is in the paint and what is in the dirt :thumb:

No this was just mindless vandalism it happened in a supermarket car park I have never been in before 20 miles away from home.

Bad luck, Ian.

This is the reason I have my 124 and 202. Both in very good condition but it's not the end of the world if they are vandalised. The problem is though, that the vandals only seem to want to damage something that looks nice or is new.

I'd start trying to T-Cut or SRP the damage before taking it to a paint repairer. Even if you don't get rid of all the damage at least it won't look that expensive to repair. ;)

Many years ago I had a Diahatsu Charmant which, to be frank, was a complete shed. One night some moron came down the street and keyed all the cars parked outside. I was annoyed for about half a second, by which point I'd already shrugged my shoulders and gone "another scratch, tough titty" but some of my neighbours had nice cars, I was gutted for them. So I feel for you Ian.. the scumbags that do this sort of thing need a good kicking and a lecture in the difference between right and wrong. :(

Cheers,

Gaz

Far too many years ago I had a brand new Cortina Mk5. Nice car (at the time) in gold with the obligatory vinyl roof.
Had it about a month and I had exactly the same thing happen. Keyed (or coined) all down the drivers side from front to back.
So I know how you feel.
Total and utter mindless prats.
I mean................................WHY ? ?

A guy who works for MB in Donny has come up with this:

CleanDetail - car detailing and valeting, doncaster yorkshire - Clean Detailing

"His name is Nick and as far as detailing goes he has a fantastic reputation, you just need to look at his website portfolio, it speaks for itself, he is on the same yard as an Autoglym dealer I know very well and they also both use a ex Chips Away paint guy called Ian Wood that does smart repairs and more, a real good and reliable paint guy. He ran his own body shop for a few years but has returned to working for himself and a core of regular clients that keep him busy. I would not hesitate to recommend either

Nicks details are on his website, and he will have Ian's if required and he can't detail it out"

Hth.

I still remember my dad parking his 735i on the roof top of Mexborough multi-storey on a Saturday morning when we were kids. Came back to a lovely S shaped gouge in the boot. He spent the next hour looking for kids who'd been on the rooftop....

Sorry to hear Ian.

Thanks for that Ian sounds perfect it's only 6 miles from where I live :D I'll get the car washed after work tomorrow and see how bad it is and then give Nick a call, thanks for this very much appreciated, I owe you one :thumb:

Always sorry to hear of this type of mindless vandalism . I had it done to my car a few years ago along with a dozen others in the street . Damage to wings and doors only to my car but some others included the roof . The parents must be so proud

I hope it's soon fixed, happened to me once too often in London. I recall walking the entire length of Harcourt Terrace (a good 400 yards) on my way to the tube and some canute had keyed every single car on that side of the road. Just horrendous.

Horrible people in this part of the world. Like you Ian I travel a lot and you don't hear of mindless rubbish like this.
In 1982, my dad bought my mum a new BMW 320. 4 days old and some idiot poured paint stripper all over it. Scary thing was that it was right outside our house.

If you want it sorting Ian, let me know; I've got a mobile paint man and a body shop as well.
