I've had other vehicles vandalised or borken into when parked outside my house, but this is the first time for my 1995 W124 facelift. I suppose I was living a charmed life; after three years' ownership something had to happen.

So it was straight down to the stealers - Hughes of Aylesbury - and they quickly found me the right item. As always, the service was very friendly, impeccably polite and highly efficient.

The only drawback was the price. £29.00 including VAT.

I was hoping to pay much less. The days of the £14 star are obviously gone.

I paid £16 last week at GSF.

(the old one was extremely limp)

There has obviously been a stellar price increase !

Last time I bought one for a 190E , couple of years back , also because of a weak spring , the dealers charged me something like £14

Bought a genuine "back up" star on Ebay the other day for £10.. :)

I think the one for the facelift W124 is different from yours.

On your car, it fits in the radiator grille and is surrounded by chrome. On mine, it fits in the bonnet panel and is surrounded by paint.

Probably two different items, which might explain the different prices.

I had mine robbed the other week so I feel your pain, I'm currently hunting for one as we speak!

+1 ^

Tempted to change mine to the flat type before it gets damaged - did that to my old CLK.

Don't need the target as my aim is pretty good! :thumb:

Just a note to say I got one from Neil, really quick service and item was in great condition!

Shane leave the star in situ, the flat ones are wrong!
