I recently acquired a tatty (some arch rust, interior trim issues, scuffed to bugger alloys, and one of the dirtiest interiors ever) but mechanically looked after 2004 R170 SLK 230 Kompressor.
The 230 Kompressor - In sapphire blue, the one I wanted since I was 17 or so when they came out.
I intend to spend more money on it than it's worth, but hey-ho, not every decision has to be based on economics!
So I was parked up in a side-street, hiding the car from my wife until I've given it enough TLC that it looks like a bargain... and I can introduce it - where there is a primary school.
I had the top down so I could clean the vinyl bits behind the seats more easily, and the kids were being walked home by their parents etc.
I little girl about 8 stopped at the car and went:
"WOOOW..."
"Mummy when I grow up, I want a car like that one!"
I was beaming ear to ear...
"But mine will be pink" - she added.
Okay so not the most alpha male car in the world!
But the first car I ever owned that got a wow from a kid
