In the workshop nxt door to me is a very talented patern maker,he is porsche mad.This guy also makes BODY BUCKS,its a process of where a car is designend or measurements are taken from a real car then its is made out off wood full size.The next step after this it goes to a body builder (not the muscle kind) and it is used as a former for alliminum to be put up onto,the meatal is never beaten on the buck by the way!The 55o spyder build was taken from a real car, at the time it was the only real 55o in the uk,there is none over here now.The owner allowed them to have the car for six months to take all measurments from it.no one has been allowed to do this before.

Impressive , but what are they made for ? To be dropped over cliffs in films perhaps, Or garden ornaments?

More likely to be used as "bucks" (as per original description) for turning out metal or composite mouldings. Getting hold of original cars from which to take the measurements is essential especially if you want to make parts for repairs rather than complete body replacements.

I imagine once the wooden framework is done they will be filled with foam and then sanded to shape.

YAP thats what it is its a "buck" it is used to make a alley body,it dosent get filled with foam for meatal cars but if you did a composite car it would be full y shapped and used as a buck to make a female master from!

nope hes just a old Ozzy guy who can hardly use a mobile but has a clever measurement system he does that does all angles and heights plot it out.That's him
