Back in Mill Hill but sometimes in Skiathos
Car
Gixxer 6, Citroen Berlingo, 911 C4S, Dacia Duster and lots of bicycles.
I want to take a convertable back to Skiathos in May and the budget is around 2500 pounds max.

I would like a CLK but can't find a decent example so the choice has come down to a Saab on a S,T or V plate or an Audi A4 around the same era.

Help me out guys as my wife is expecting a Shogun or a Cherokee and I want to surprise her.

Oh, dangerous! Why is she expecting a Shogun / Cherokee? The CLK is a world away from those. Will the surprise be well received?

She is expecting a 4x4 as there are some nasty hills and mountains to get up. We have the old Samurai for that and it does the job with ease.

I fancy a pose machine that I can park outside the bar, roof down, I am sure the rest is obvious. My wife is in Skiathos and will be meeting me off the ferry in May. Can't wait to see her face!!

4 months away!!! Car is the last thing I would be thinking about ...

MX-5? Nimble and enough poke for uphill mountain roads. Plenty about for your budget. Maybe a bit low slung if roads not too good though.

Good luck!

Theres plenty of good SLK's around at that money but suspect you want a 4 seater?

Stay well clear of the Saabs the body flexes too much and that creates all sorts of problems that cost a fortune to fix.

Audi great but not Auto as the g/box ECU is prone and costs more to fix than the car would be worth.

MX5 is a good bullet proof car but may be too small if you are looking at Saab and Audi.

Another good one easily in your budget is Alfa Romeo Spyder but make sure you get a good one, 2.0 petrols best, not the quickest but most reliable.

MG TF another great car around £1k for a good 52 plate, head gasket prone but easy to fins ones that have had it done and modified gasket fitted

But the best one of all in your budget by a mile, Volvo C70 convertible everything from a bog standard 2.0 litre to T5 rocketship well within your grasp and come in some fantastic colours, this would be my choice:thumb:

Hope that gives you a bit of food for thought

I have , very occasionally , seen SL's ( 107 & 129 ) advertised at that sort of price , but always ones that needed work , and would no doubt need a lot spent - but you might just get the odd useable car .

124 Cabs are starting to get on too , and you might pick up a not particularly well loved one for that money .

How about an older Land Rover ? It is 4x4 , and you can just unbolt the tin top .

AUDI you might even pick up a quattro version which should help with the Off Roading!

C70's can also be bargains as has been said altho women seem to prefer AUDI [ Princess Di factor??]
