Hi sorry if this is covered. 07 cls 320cdi if I change footwell lights and overhead ambient bulbs to led
with it show a fault. Also would the led get too hot for interior lighting.
any advice welcome, I remember changing number plate bulbs on a clk to led and I thought they were a bit hot.

A lot of the interior lights dim up when they come on and down when going off, so are not suitable for replacement with LED's, however the vanity mirrors, glove box and tailgate are. I also found that with a little lateral thinking I was able to make the W16W incandescent bulbs from the reversing lights (which I replaced with LED's) could be made to fit the footwell lights in place of the W5W's.

were they standard W16W not led you used then in foot well then.

Yes, it was the original incandescent bulbs I'd removed from the reversing lights when I replaced those with W16W LED's - which are much better in the reversing lights. I found that with a little jiggery pokery I could get them fitted into the footwell lights, they're so much brighter and better than the original W5W's and happily dim up when opening the door.

Hi,
I have replaced all my interior lights including the map reading lights in the RVM and the exterior lamp under the door mirror with no dash warnings.
Though I there is a logged code on each of the front DCMs (door mirror light) and I have a logged code in one of the front SAMs.
Tried replacing my number plate lights, but it affected my radio reception drastically, I have bought complete new number plate LED light fittings hoping these would be better but you have to removed the chrome boot trim to fit them and I cannot get it off without destroying it, (it is stuck and screwed on).
