Had this pop up today SOS Inoperative, couldn't see anything in the manual , what do I need to do, thanks

It will happen if the car can’t get a cell phone signal.

Were you in an unfamiliar location?

I see, no I was just driving to b and q

Could have been a localised mast outage then.

I’d try it out again tomorrow and if it’s working again then most likely the problem was external to the car. If it’s not working you’ll need to delve further.

Indeed, not much to worry about if it was a temporary issue. If it was navigation, it could be an early indication of a failing GNSS antenna but my understanding is that the cell antenna is not that prone to fail.

On a cellular phone any available network can be used for emergency calls but isn't this SOS warning referring to the connectivity between the ca and the MB emergency call server? Not sure at all but my understanding was that the accident related data is sent to the MB server, not directly to the emergency call centre. The actual phone call may work but the crash data etc. will not get delivered via a "foreign" cellular network?

A 2019 car has Mercedes Me services and those should cease working too if it was a cell coverage issue? Something to test.

I don't have access to the fresh technical bulletins any more (ridiculously expensive), there were several recalls but an over the air fix should have handled a 2019 car I think?

i have just had the same issue on a 2017 C43 AMG.
Have you find a cause/solution to this issue? My local MB dealer has said it maybe or may not be a software issue. They want me to book it in for a diagnostic check at £165 +VAT! The car has approved used warranty but i'm always sceptical of wether electronic faults will be covered.
Thx,
Peter

Mine does it within the Boundary of Cambridge Airport, I haven't noticed it anywhere else, I suspected it was due to the Signal being Blocked/Interfered with by the Airports Radar and Electronic Installations!
