Yep plenty of W203 saloons made down there, as I understand all the estates were made in germany though.

I think plant 67 is Bremen. That's where my 202 estate was built. You should be able to tell by the letter in the VIN. A-E is Sindelfinden, F-H is Bremen.

I would suggest doing a few edits to post #7. Tooooo much detail.
Could end up in the wrong hands..........

67 is definitely Bremen

True, it is a matter of national security.

VIN paranoia strikes again. The VIN on any 202 (& millions of other cars all around the world) is on public view in the windscreen for all to see.

What do you think somone is going to do with the engine or tranny number, or the car's options list?

All 203 (Saloon) were made in South Africa.

S203 were made in Bremen. I know.....I went there to collect mine even. Great trip and would do it again if buying new.

I'm pretty sure all W202's were made in Germany.

My W202 saloon was made at plant 67, the same plant where W202 saloons and estates were made.

Mark Cosovich, the W123 obsessed guru swears S. African cars are better than the German versions. Far superior leather, sound deadening & a few other things which I can't remember at the moment.

I'd be a lot more concerned if Americans had built my Mercedes.

Pity then that they couldn't be bothered to fit the door deals properly!!!

Well i can confirm that the code on the datacard above is correct to that vehicle and that 67 is definitely Bremen plant, so i have to disagree i'm afraid

What would happen if someone had ordered a SA-built W203 saloon and wanted to do the `personal collection` thing?

Would MB ship it to Germany?

"Shows I know not a lot about mercs, just found a 'made in South Africa' sticker on drivers door pillar..."

It may also surprise you to know that you have a Mitsubishi engine under the bonnet of your SA-built MB?
