spark plug gaps

do we still need to adjust spark plug gaps in this day and age? I only ask because I installed new plugs last week and only just wondered if they need adjusting, they are the champion ones.

the ones i took off had very small pin like electrodes compared to the champion ones which are more like the old fashion ones

Strangely, no. I wondered about it as well, but they say the gap is now 'pre set' (and what if the thing fell on the tip at some point?). The thin electrode is iridium plugs which last for 80 k miles or there abouts....
