Speaker size for ML doors / General ICE recommendations?

Its been a long time since I was into my car audio and currenty the ML has a standard Audio 10 head unit (which I find very annoying to use...) and standard speakers.

Its does sound ok to be fair......but

I use to have Rockford Fosgate equipment in my car(s), mostly bought from trips to the states. Componant front and rear speakers with a 4 channel amp and a sub enclosed in a carpeted box in boot.

I'm not after thud thud thud... I like Dire Straits for example and the clarity of the guitar with this set up was superb.

I still have my old amp and one set of speakers and was thinking of hooking this up to the ML. Is rockfords gear still good? As I'm out of things now.

Also what size speakers can go in the front / rear of the ML

I'm not on my computer at the moment, so can't get to my favourites.

However I came across some threads on a US forum about upgrading - I think it was Benz World IIRC. Might be worth a snoop around there.

I had considered upgrading ours. When I swapped out the Audio 10 for a Becker Mexico the sound was transformed, much more so that I would have imagined possible, so I never bothered with the speakers.
