Speccing a C43

Do you mean when open?

I like the Pano roof simply due to the light it gives the car interior. In fact I'd be quite happy with a cheaper option of a fixed glass roof rather than an opening one.

It's a must now I've had it on a car, a bit like a reversing camera which fell into the category of "why would I need that?" until I had one, at which point it become "Why wouldn't you have that?"

Noisy when open, yes. My current W203 has a regular sunroof and that's noisy at anything above 40mph. Given the pano roof sits in the airflow over the car, not within the roof I can't understand how it won't be noisy. But I haven't tried one, so maybe they've solved the noise issue.

No premium pack, boggo alloys, no night pack, no performance seats. That's why it's not sold

To be fair, other than the lack of Burmester hifi in the Premium Pack nothing on your list of missing items for that car would bother me. The presence of privacy glass and black leather would be "challenging" for me, but if the price is right etc, etc.

We have a Mercedes with a panoramic roof, but not a W205 C-Class, and I can't say that it's noisy when it's either open or closed. We love it. The light it allows in transforms the cabin space IMHO.

Perhaps a test drive in a W205 with a Panoramic roof might help to confirm or allay your fears about the noise?

Do you have to buy new? If second hand is an option maybe one of these almost new C63 AMG without panoramic roof might work out well. They seem to be around £50k which the C43 AMG might end up being close to with a few options.

I will test drive a C43 when they are available for sure and it'll have a sunroof because they all will do it seems. I don't have to buy new but I struggled to make the most of the 320bhp I had in my previous main car (W203 is a stop gap car) so a C63 is going to be totally wasted here in the congested South East. Plus my preference for any colour leather except black really limits my choice out in 2nd hand car land.

Sadly I did not due to the threat of redundancy at work. That threat has, thankfully, now gone away so I can get back on with it, although I still struggle with potential cost given over three years depreciation alone is likely to be £20 - 25k.

I had the double pan roof on my w211 and my wife has one on her r230 sl. It makes so much difference to the interior...and both have light leather. My current cls55 only has a glass sunroof again with a light interior as there is no pano option. I doubt I would consider a car without some sort of glass roof.

JamesG66: If you are really concerned about depreciation suggest you DO NOT buy any high performance car as they will all -with perhaps the exception of a 911- depreciate pretty quickly but remember if you tried to hire the same car it would cost you much, much more!!

Regarding the sunroof - I was a little annoyed that it came as standard with my GLC43 as well. I don't like the sun shining in my face through it during the day, I don't like the street lights lighting the interior like some strobe disco lamp. I don't like how the cover remains see through, and how with just 2K miles on the clock it already makes the noises that I'm used to of a sunroof. To me these things are pointless, take away headroom, add weight. If I wanted light and airy I'd gotten a convertible.

Every thing else about my GLC43 I love - but they could have kept that part.

Also for people who only want Burmester stereo on the C class, you need to swallow the electric seats, COMAND, pano roof, remote online, keyless go, electric seats, heated seats too. Previously the Burmester was a single option, now it's lumped into the Premium plus package.

Do you know how much the Burmester was when it was a single option?

I would have thought around £750, that seems to be the going rate for other manufacturers with similar kit.

Whilst I don't particularly like having a load of options lumped together like Mercedes are doing I also find the whole tiny option thing that Porsche do pathetic. Trying to find a used Porsche with a suitable spec was nigh on impossible.

I think the mid ground, a bit like BMW do is about the best at the moment.

And Burmester was the reason for me to go Premium Plus (together with Comand), I don't care much about the rest. But so be it. I still enjoy my car.

I think the Burmester solus option when it was available was £650

You only live once, order now and you'll have it in time for spring :D

I like your thinking!

I lost £14k in two years on my last car (M135i) and I am not sure it was worth it. Great car but rarely used the performance due to living in the congested South East

Go for the better C63!

Out my league, price wise unfortunately. And I don't think I'd personally benefit from the extra performance other than via bragging rights.

Thanks for posting that, it's very much how I feel about it. I have a sunroof in the current car but if it's not open then I always close the blind too, despite having a black interior (but light headliner).

I've got the Premium Plus ... love the lot... Pano roof, Burmeister, clock etc ... I can understand though if you don't want the roof and you're stuck with it because you want the stereo etc ... I'm looking forward to the summer ... sunroof open really enhances the V6 sound

Whilst I quite like the pano roof, with the roof open you probably won't be able to hear the V6 sound over the wind noise at anything over 30mph........

I love the pano roof but still new so no creaks etc.. It was a must in any car I chose to buy this time around.

I sold my c class earlier in the year (private sale) as soon as i put it on auto trader the phone started ringing and one of the first questions asked was, Does your car have at least the premium pack on it as they wanted a sunroof, I did not have the premium pack and lost a few offers.
