Hi,

Had some fun with a dangerous driver on my lunch hour today, really annoyed as I'm about to travel on business and need the car in good order, lucky I managed to stop in time and no one was close behind me :devil::devil::devil::devil:

NH07 VPC - Rate driver! - rate-driver.co.uk

Person was totally oblivious to the road or traffic around them, coasted right in front of me, very dangerous. Is it worth reporting to the local plod or do you think they would not bother to action it. In reality they should have either moved into the correct lane if safe to do so, or pulled off and re-joined the roundabout.

I don't think I am doing anything wrong, inside lane, indicating, within speed limit etc.

Report it , but don't hold your breath waiting for anything to happen
.

Only reason I say it is it puts it on record , and if yours is the latest in a string of complaints , or he goes on to attract more attention , it can be used to establish a pattern of poor driving .

I wouldn't have even bothered recording that, let alone posting it. I see much worse driving than that every day.

Have to say , after a glance at that website I don't think much of it .

The same numbers come up month after month in the best driver category - wonder who nominated them !!

Then again some of the worst ones are listed repeatedly - do some people have nothing better to do ?

I won't be revisiting it .

As you were intending to leave the roundabout at that exit, shouldn't you have been in the left hand lane in readiness? I know that there were two lanes on the road you were entering, but that doesn't mean you can cut across from the roundabout's right hand lane at the last moment. Just saying...

^^ This ^^ go give yourself in to the plod

TBH, nothing dangerous there, maybe a slight due care/w/o reasonable consideration. Driver appeared to be lost.

If anything I think you were at fault!
Left lane for turning left or going straight on, you were in the right lane and intending to turn left..........Highway code books are widely available in all good book shops.

Day to day traffic after a while you get used to it ,and judging by the video you could do with Lane orientation lessons too!lol

As above... I dont see anything majorly wrong with what the driver did, you should have been in the left lane yourself.

I suspect a few of you did not note where the driver entered the roundabout. Driver at fault was in left lane at point of entry, which according to the highway code they should have exited either left or directly across the roundabout from their point of entry. They just circled it....

According to the highway code you should be in the inner lane for turning right or progressing further (although technically you can also go straight across and filter in). I was in the correct lane and kept in the inner lane on the exit road so did not need to filter on the roundabout.

Below explains with a diagram how to use a roundabout and shows my manoeuvre is 100% supported by the highway code, I do worry about some peoples basic knowledge of the road. In simpleton terms, I did what the green car was doing and they should have done what the blue or orange one did as that was their point of entry.

Anyway I suspect the local police are more interested in what flavour of krispy cream dohnuts are in the local store so not worth the hassle as luckily nothing happened...

If you say so then it must be right.
You appear to attempting to make a mountain out of a molehill as my mother used to say.

Yes this must have been a difficult moment for you. And the other driver does seem lost. Still, happens every day, you were alert enough to avoid a crash... so it's 'move on, nothing to see here'.

Me too. By the way, my earlier comments were made as being one of those doughnut eating police with most of my 30 years on traffic, driver training, vip escort including driving the Royal family and team leader for cat a prisoner escorts. I am presently an examiner for rospa advanced drivers.

Looks like you also ignored rule 187:

In all cases watch out for and give plenty of room to:
traffic which may be straddling lanes or positioned incorrectly

I use the same lane as the camera car if that lane also leads to that exit point of a roundabout, we can't all get into the left lane

But, OP- I'm not quite sure why you approached so close to that black car seeing as it wasn't even indicating to exit. As I'm sure common sense dictates- assume everyone else on the road is an idiot, so drive cautiously all the time

Also, if you think that was bad, then I'm guessing you only commute to and from one place of work and don't commute for business, I see this (quite minor really) at least four or five times a day. It's bloody scary when a lorry decides to do it to you though

I'm very lucky to have a short commute although sometimes have to travel a fair distance to customer sites as am doing so next week. Seen loads of idiots but was just a bit pi$$£d with this tar# as only had the car for a few months and paid a good few £, probably the reason I'm venting, and not helped by peoples ignorance of basic usage of a roundabout :) anyway moving on.

Do you know Flango?

He's a black belt at all that stuff.

peoples ignorance of basic usage of a roundabout
