Now my 3 year waranty is up, I don't want to use MB dealers if I can avoid it! Anyone know a good, reliable, affordable MB specialist in the Harpenden, Luton, Dunstable general area?

I have a brilliant Saab specialist just a couple of miles away for my 93 Convertible, but have yet to find a good MB one! :(

Just as an addition to this, I can recommend Mercedes-Benz Milton Keynes for parts and technical advice! Just went in there today and got a lot of help! Don't know about actual service though.

I was in Harpenden last weekend while on a visit to Watford. Had to pop into MB Watford to drop a friend off to pick up his (company) car, staff seemed nice. I will give my mate a ring and see if he knows local indie specialist.

I can vouch for MB Watford being pretty good. I used them a few times before the S-Class bit the dust and they were spot on. One two jobs they actually beat the price of the same job at a (not as local) Indie too.

Established by the former service manager of the MB main dealers in Harpenden. I haven't used them (I use a mobile service) but would do so without hesitation if I needed to.

If you do use them, give us some feedback.

Didn't the MB Dealer in Harpenden burn down?

I used to work / live in the village some years ago...

Boswells on the High Street is well recommended for their sausage and bacon french stick mega breakfast.

Oh! And my fav Italian restaurant - Pasta Cibo - on Station Rd.

:D

Orignally owned by the Pinney family, they did have a fire, which I think was started by a disgruntled ex-employee. They became MB Harpenden and then closed down under MB's regional reorganization (I've followed my friendly parts man to Milton Keynes). The site now has about sixty flats in two blocks, all sold within a few months of completion.

Boswells still does good sandwiches. I haven't been in Pasta Cibo for years, but it certainly used to be good for its price bracket. There are now more restaurants than makes any sense at all. But the real foodie jewel is the Silver Palate deli in Vaughan Road; among a host of other things, they do the best chorizo sausages you can imagine -- not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

P.S. Not to forget the excellent Jacks fish & chip shop on Station Road -- a must for those who come to Classics on the Common in July:
