Speedo dials too bright compared with radio etc.

I want to get the brightness of the speedo, fuel, oil temp. dials to dim a bit so that they match the radio and heating dials.
I find that the dials on he speedo etc. are too bright, but when I dim them to a nice level (around half) I can no longer see the radio/heating controls etc.
I was thinking of adding a resistor to the back of the instrument cluster on teh appropriate cables, anyone know how many cables there are and what would be a good resistor to add ??

I have the opposite problem. Can't get the dials bright enough

I've just collected my C270. The brightness of the COMAND buttons are too dim compared to the dashboard lights. I want all the lights to be as bright as the dashboard lights (ie the same level) Does anyone know how the brightness of COMAND buttons can be increased ? I assume it is a resistor in the unit. I presume C Classes without the COMAND would show the centre console buttons dim compared to the speedo lights.
