Splash Nav £96k Merc Guided into river

the track is signposted as unsuitable for motor vehicles

So obviously an SL500 would be just the thing to try it in

Wonder if it was COMAND, or an aftermarket satnav?

A candidate for the Darwin Awards maybe?

Poor soul - I do feel for her :D :D not :D :D

No I do actually - but have these people lost all use of there eyes and common sense?

I'm not sure that it matters, the satnav had no idea the road was flooded!

It wasn't a road, it was a track unsuitable for motor vehicles. So no satnav should route you down it ... obviously an issue with the map data.

And it was a ford (where the track passes through a river), not a flood!

It is actually an unmade road so is legally a road but does not have a metalled surface. The ford is normally passable for the average car, but not when there is over 3 feet of floodwater rushing down it.

The whole river valley in Leicestershire is prone to flooding as there are three rivers join. If everyone just kept driving when the roads are flooded there would be thousands of stranded cars.
If this person recieves a message from her satnav to keep going, but there is a traffic jam does she just drive into the back of it.....??

Totally stupid idiot.

PMSL
Write off an expensive car doing something stupid and then get a chauffeur driven Bentley to pick you up.
whatever next:crazy:

Absolutley unbelievable, if your sat nav told you to drive off a cliff, would you do it?!! That person is completley barking. There is no excuse for such stupidity!

Makes me sick that morons like this have these kind of cars when there are so many people out there who would really appreciate it!

Reckon she could've bought it back off her insurance company?! I'd give her a few grand for it................then sit there for three months with a hair dryer :D

Your right, she does not derserve a car like that. What worries me is that someone with her 'common sense' and 'driving nounce' has been on the roads behind the wheel of a 5 litre v8 monster

Leave the poor girl alone. She was clearly just eating an apple, doing her makeup, talking on the phone and watching tv at the time.

;-)
