Hi All,

I am not mechanically minded so apologies in advance for my terminology

I noticed an airy sort of whistling noise when i was on the motorway coming home yesterday.

There then was a delay between accelerating and the car actually moving and seemed a bit jolty.

Once i get to mid speed it sounds normal but any time i really accelerate the airy noise starts again

It is fine when Idle and low speed its only when i put my foot down it happens - There is no black smoke and from early indications i have looked at it seems its a split pipe rather than the turbo itself.

I dont want to have my pants pulled down at a garage and would feel better knowing the problem before going in there blind.

Thanks for any help

It may help if you mentioned what vehicle this is?

It certainly sounds like an air leak somewhere. Do you have a Mercedes Independent near to you?

I had the large pipe from the Intercooler split on my E 320, it's a hefty piece of reinforced rubber with large metal clamps but it was only £55 from Mercedes.
