I've recently bought a lovely W221 S350 with loads of extras including front entertainment with splitscreen. When the car was new it came with a remote and a pair of headphones but these weren't with the car when I got it. There are used headphones and remotes for the rear entertainment system available from ebay (but not cheap!). Would these work with front only splitscreen and if so, would they need "coding" for my car? I have tried to find this information but no joy so far. I don't want to shell out good money only to find out they are not suitable.

Many thanks.

Would need to check with car VIN but if I remember right, the W221 remotes and headsets were still IR type and would not need coding. EPC/Parts Info would show if the rear and the front are different but it could be that they all work with a switch selecting the function (front, RL, RR).

I have the VIN but not sure how I check what would work?

Any parts catalogue gives the exact part number of each part that belongs to car with the given VIN. You then have to figure out if that part is IR or radio based (see if the part is used on later models like a W222).

I'm not familiar with on line copies of EPC but it seems most only give the datacard, they do not filter parts according to the VIN number which a real parts catalogue does (Mercedes EPC or the current Parts Info).

I've been in contact with the previous owner and he has sold me the headphones and remote control that originally came with the car.

Sold them to you? Shouldn't they have been with the car to begin with. Lovely motor by the way. :) 👍
I know. He sold the car to WBAC and decided to keep them to sell on ebay. I knew they would work with the car (just tried them out) so I didn't really mind paying for them. The car is fantastic, really loving it.

The frustrating thing was I'd just bought a pair of headphones from ebay (before I got to speak to the previous owner) which I'm going to sell on now
