I had the front pads replaced on W203 with sport pack brakes. after being replaced they tend to clonk a bit when going from reverse to forward, the pins and springs were also replaced. anyone else had this? If so how is it cured?

Is it possible that wrong components were fitted when the pads were renewed since sport pack brakes are not "standard fitment" check the numbers on your invoice against the MERC EPC

I have the sports pack brakes on my W203 and also had new pads fitted last service. Never had an experience like you describe. My money is with grobers suggestion.

I change pads and discs in wifes w203 last night not sure if they are sport pack but there was no pins only stainless sliders for the pads to run in these are springy to hold the pads still.
They were sliding calipers so maybe sport pack is fixed calipers?

Easiest way to identify what brakes you have on a W203 is that the front discs on a car with the sports pack are drilled. "Normal" brake discs are plain and undrilled (and smaller).

Nope mine or rather the wifes are std brakes just looked at brake international catalogue and std discs are 300x28mm, kompressor 330x28mm and amg are 345x30mm.

Shows pics of pads on the kompressor ones held in with pins which i would guess are the sport pack ones.

I did have the noise years ago on a discovery, which believe it or not have huge fixed 4 pot calipers! and this was due to the pads, again noise only happened going from drive to reverse, never caused any trouble.

The correct pads and fitting kit were fitted, perhaps I'm being to fussy about a slight noise?

Maybe.
But if its a noise that wasnt there before it was serviced then you are right to ask the question. Maybe an accumulation of brake dust dulled and reduced the level of the noise (?)
