Is the centre of this dash standard in some models? (above the heater controls)

460,000 Kms. Possible a housing for a taxi meter is what you see. (Yonks since I have been in Germany, someone on here will know though) The estate tailgate bottom lip does not seem too "worn" so I could be way off.

Was wondering if the dash comes from the factory like this and would it be possible to attach that housing without cutting the dash or would it need to be modified?

Have a look on your own car. I think there are lines on the dash which you would cut.

Remember seeing that on another W202 years and years ago on here - search didnt bring anything up though.
Would make the dash look dated IMO, trouble being moden Sat/Nav's are thin and that is deep on the dash.
