Sprinter 313CDI DMF Issue

Guys,

One of my company Sprinter Vans broke down the other night, all things pointing to the DMF. Speaking to the chap in the garage, he was saying DMF failure, could also take the crankshaft also, knackering the engine!! He is fonna be looking at it tomorrow.

Could the DMF take the engine with it?? Last thing i need at the moment!!

It is possible, but reasonably rare. DMF'S are one of the worst inventions ever, one of the reasons I've gone back to an auto. My last car I had the DMF replaced with a solid flywheel and never had any trouble.
