Well I guess I have been lucky,1999 Reg. When me and Dad bought it from the dealer in 2001 head gasket already blown, (he stated NO WANT`Y) so last week engine shows over the 80 not normal, strange as never had any problems, I had only just changed the engine oil, so lucky dip, blown head gasket, so after a deal of thought, do I retire her, or spanners out, looked at replacement vans cannot see anything for the money we have, don't feel like going through it all again, but still years left in her, so its me to fix it, I thought problems were sorted as I just replaced all brakes a few weeks ago. so time on my hands.

Well up 'date, went of to Screwfix 1 gallon of Swarfega,1 gallon of engine degreaser, and a box of latex gloves, start off grill off, then rad out, got spray bottle and filled with cleaner, washed engine, left to soak, in morning power washer, then start stripping down, for the life of me I cannot remember what went with the slide hammer, I know I used it to pull the valve timing gear off the head, still as soon as I get to that part I will figure it. PS have to skip Church in the morning.

Having given this a bit of a thought, so I pondered if the head gasket had blown. No water in the sump ?, stood thinking what is the problem, suddenly thought, can it be the oil cooler ?, as the engine starts instantly and no missing, just got up to 100+ when driving, rad out on the floor, oil like treacle comes out, start checking for fitting bolts on the cooler, yep at back of engine, now rethink as to getting it off, just seals gone or replace the part ?. Get it off first problem.

Oil cooler off, what a bloody job, remove inlet manifold , then attack the cooler, one bloody bolt almost impossible to get undone, got there in the end just a good job I have different ratchet and torque bits and pieces, this is going to be a nightmare putting it back, so I got some oil I have laying in the garage, pored down one hole that showed in the second hole, going to drain that now, the pore water down the rubber pipe, just to be sure that's the problem, other than that head off. Had a quote from garage 8 hours sit and cost £ 750 Sir.

Pondering. Head off, gone so far, chance I would put it all back and still have the problem, so gona have to miss Church again.

Well job done, not rushed it as I have all the time in the world, so fitted oil cooler, all bits put back, no start, meter out check for power to the glow plugs, none, check the relay, broken tag, fit new tag, starts ok, but running very lumpy, bonnet up, stupid me left one injector pipe undone that was to bleed of the air, tighten up, up and running ok.
