Sprinter radio installation

Hi. This is my first post so apologies if I'm in the wrong category. I have an Esterel Manhatten motorhome based on a Sprinter 315CDI from 2009. I have the VIN details which say that it was supplied with "Radio Preinstallation" and It was originally fitted with a Pioneer Avic radio without steering wheel control by Rapido(the Esterel manufacturer). The motorhome has SWC's that control the dashboard display through a Can bus I presume. I have fitted a Chinese radio and was wondering if I could control it with the steering wheel controls. Would I have to get the signals enabled with Star?
