Hi all. Have a 2005 MB Sprinter 316 Cdi with sprintshifter auto gearchange. This is associated/linked to the hydraulic control box controlling the ABS braking system , as the gear changes are done hydraulically, not by movement of a cable. There is an ECU chip in this which has given up the ghost . Starts off in auto mode fine , until engine is warm or it has been up and down the gearbox a few times. It then drops out of auto mode, and you have to use manual mode to change up through the box. If you slow down and come to a halt, the box will change down to first, and will hold it there for 30 seconds or so , then wants you to put it in neutral , and will do so itself if you do not do it . MB no longer stock the unit - it cost over £2500 , and Bosch no longer make them . It is said to be impossible to remove existing computer program on the ABS unit and re-write it . The part number of any replacement unit from a scrapped veh. must be exact- they try and flog you one which is from an Alpha Romeo which does not work. Must be from a 903 2.7 litre Sprinter , 1999-2005 , not a 906. Any similar experiences or clue what to do out there?
