squeaking noise

my 1998 c class w202 c200 is making a very loud squeaking noise when i put in gear and when i am driving its coming from the front is the belt pullly a commen problem or it is same other thing

Serpent belts have a tensioner so usually not noisy just bearings and pulleys turning round type noise. You need to try and find where it comes from, keep your fingers and loose clothing clear. Could be any component driven by the belt.

thanks for the info got day of today so going to sort out

right changed the tensioner pulley and nosie went away but whent i got home it was back but not so loud now
