Clk 2.8 cabriolet
Hi everybody first post for a Newbie!
I own a W209 clk 280 cabriolet and since picking it up have had a nasty annoying squeak from the front passenger side.
It seems to quieten when wet conditions?
It's had a new anti roll bar ( with built in bushes for this model) new clamps and bolts and one of the struts which had a bit of play.
The noise still there !!
I've noticed that driving in a straight line noise there particularly over uneven surfaces, turning right doesn't make a difference but turning left seems to get rid of the noise.
I have surfed the forums and thought the anti roll bar bushes was a common cause for a squeak in this area. Not worked in my case though.

Hope there's somebody out there can help???
Thanks Goggsy

Don't know your particular set up, but I'm guessing it's top and bottom arms with ball joint going into the hub with a large rubber bush at each end. If so it'll be in either or both of those or the anti roll bar drop links.

Wet weather will lubricate and quieten the situation.

If it is those.Whatever you do do not buy cheapies off ebay. Go for merc if your well walleted or quality Meyle German ones as I finally did after a cheapie fell apart after 13 months.

Hi guys just an update on my squeak (or flock of seagulls!)
Ended up taking my car to local MB dealer for diagnostics £100 . Didn't I'd the problem and suggested removal of dash at £120 per hour with no guarantee of finding the problem. 6-8 hours !! Or as Matt17081 above suggested ......turn radio up...tried it not an option.
so"..I mentioned that wet conditions quietening the problem ..by trial and error pouring water on the front offside..I noted that the water drained at the back of the wheel arch liner nearest the door. I took the liner off and found the problem was a loose bolt on the diagonal strut which helps strengthen against flex in the cab. This bolt is covered by the liner and was clearly rubbing against the bolt head....took it back to MB who tightened everything up and not a squeak since.
Lesson learned.. Never take no for an answer! Are the experts just fitters!!
Hope this helps someone else out there.

Are theso called experts just fitters!!

Yep. Find a good independent M-B specialist. Main dealers really don't want older cars in their workshop unless it's in for brake pads or an oil change.
