I own a LHD 220TE estate yr '94.w124.155,00km

My wife and i purchased this car 4 weeks ago and it is a pleasure to drive and an extremely solid car.We are on the whole v.v.happy!
However after going on the first long run (150km) the steering developed a rubber squeaky noise when in use. After reading some previous threads i applied some WD40 to the steering column of which has solved the squeak.
However i have now noticed on the front drivers side a further squeak which maybe associated with the steering but sounds like it could be the bushes?
Beacause it occurs when going over bumps as well as turning the steering.
I have checked all levels and they seem fine.

Any experience that can be shared will be much appreciated.

squeak.

Hi, I have a 300E and had the same squeaking noise. I found out that it was the lower suspension ball joint. I replaced that one then found that the other side noisey also.

sorry about delay, working!!! ball joint cost under £10. But it's a pig to fit, needing a press and coil spring compressors. You have to make sure the lower susp arms are refitted back in the same place as they are adjustable. best of luck, mate.

By the way I forgot to say I got it from german swedish and french!
