Hi,

I have a 2000 Mercedes-Benz A140 Manual Classic and when I turn the engine most of the time there is a quick 1 second squeek. I've tried turning the engine off with the clutch pedal down on the floor but the squeek still occurs.

Any ideas what this could be?

Thanks.

It is quite normal and many 168's do it. I would not worry too much.

Aaah okay. I've only purchased the car 2 weeks ago and the seller gave me 1 months warranty so it's going in to a garage tomorrow, but they think it's just the flywheel that needs lubricating although not too sure what it could be. Might as well just get the most out of the warranty.

I'm just worried that it could cause something to wear out a lot quicker in case it is a lack of lubrication or something.

Thanks :).

Not on a petrol a class you don't as it does not have one!

I just had it looked at by mechanics and unfortunately it isn't covered by my warranty. Basically it's just wear 'n' tear and a clutch squeek.

They said that it would cost me £600 - £700 to repair if I wanted it done.

Anyone know if I should be worried or if I can just live with it?

Thanks.
